1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Virtower LLC ("Virtower," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information in connection with the Virtower website at virtower.com, the Virtower airport operations platform, and the Virtower mobile application for iPhone and iPad (the "App"), collectively referred to as the "Services."

Virtower is an aviation technology company providing airport operations monitoring, aircraft movement information, operational notifications, and related aviation data services to authorized airports and organizations.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our Users and maintaining the security and confidentiality of information processed through our Services.

Your use of the Services is also subject to the Virtower Acceptable Use Policy and any applicable agreement between Virtower and your Airport Sponsor.

2. Who We Are

The Services are provided by Virtower LLC, a company headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, United States.

Virtower provides aviation operations monitoring and related services to airports, state aviation agencies, and other authorized organizations.

Our contact information is provided in Section 17.

3. Users and Account Management

Airport Sponsor means an airport or other organization that has an agreement with Virtower for the Services and authorizes individuals to access them.

The Virtower platform and App are restricted to individuals authorized by an Airport Sponsor ("Users"). Users are typically airport employees, contractors, or other authorized personnel.

Users cannot independently register for or create accounts through the App.

User accounts are issued and managed by the Airport Sponsor's designated Virtower administrator or by Virtower on behalf of the Airport Sponsor.

The Airport Sponsor determines which individuals are authorized to access the Services and the permissions assigned to each User.

Airport Sponsors may request that accounts be created, modified, suspended, or deleted.

Where Virtower processes personal information on behalf of an Airport Sponsor, the Airport Sponsor's own privacy policies and applicable agreements may also apply.

4. Personal Information We Collect

5. Website Cookies and Analytics

The Virtower website at virtower.com uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand website traffic, improve website functionality, and evaluate visitor interactions.

These technologies may collect information such as browser type, device characteristics, IP address, pages visited, and general website usage patterns.

You may control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Some website functionality may be affected if cookies are disabled.

Information about Google's use of data collected through websites using its services is available at: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

The App uses analytics and diagnostic services to operate, secure and improve the Services, as described in this Privacy Policy.

6. Virtower Mobile Application

The Virtower App provides authorized Users with mobile access to aviation operations information, including live aircraft movements, airport activity, flight information, and operational notifications.

The App may request access to certain device features to provide its functionality.

Users can grant, decline, or withdraw applicable permissions through their device settings. Some App features may be unavailable when permissions are disabled.

Camera Access

The App uses the device camera exclusively to scan a QR code for authentication and account sign-in.

Virtower does not use camera access to capture photographs or record video. No photographs or videos are saved or transmitted to Virtower as part of the QR code authentication process.

Device Location

The App may offer an optional feature allowing Users to display their current device location on the aviation map.

This feature is disabled by default and requires the User to enable location access.

When enabled:

  • The device location is used to display the User’s position on the map.
  • The User may disable location access at any time through device settings.
  • We do not collect or store your device’s precise location, and it is not shown to other Users. We may infer your approximate location (city and country) from your IP address for analytics.

The App does not use a User's personal device location to track aircraft movements or generate aviation operations records.

Push Notifications and Operational Alerts

The App provides operational notifications that may include:

  • Aircraft movement and airport activity notifications
  • Drone detection notifications
  • Aircraft diversion notifications
  • Other airport-related operational alerts made available through the Services

Users may select the notification categories they wish to receive, subject to the permissions and features available to their accounts.

Notifications can be managed through the App's account settings and the device's notification settings.

To deliver push notifications, the App may use a device-specific notification token and the notification delivery services provided by Apple or other authorized service providers.

Notification tokens are used to route operational alerts to authorized devices and are not used by Virtower for advertising or cross-application tracking.

Notification delivery may depend on device connectivity, operating system settings, and the availability of third-party notification infrastructure.

Mapping Services

The Virtower App and platform display aviation maps, aircraft positions, airport information, weather information, and related operational data.

These features may use mapping and information services supplied by third parties, including:

  • Mapbox
  • Esri (ArcGIS)
  • OpenStreetMap
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
  • Other aviation, weather, or mapping data providers used by the Services

When maps or related information are requested, applicable third-party providers may receive technical information such as the User's IP address, map area being viewed, and information necessary to deliver the requested content.

Third-party providers that receive this information are required to protect it to the same standard described in this Privacy Policy.

Virtower does not provide a User's account profile to mapping providers for advertising purposes.
